Adroll to create 100 jobs at new European HQ in Dublin

AdRoll has announced that it is setting up its European headquarters in Dublin, creating 100 jobs in its first 12 months and what it described as "ambitious plans for further staff growth".

The company, which provides a retargeting platform for advertisers, said its move to Europe is driven by strong annual growth of over 600pc in this market in 2013.

The Dublin operation will be responsible for sales, account management, marketing, HR, and finance across a number of languages and countries. The company opened its Irish office in August and has so far taken on 15 people.

More than 200 jobs are to be created in Ireland in software development, online security, internet and digital media as nine North American and European based firms expand their businesses.

The jobs, which will be located in Dublin, Cork and Limerick are in high growth firms.

45 new software engineering jobs will be created in Dublin over the next two years

US based online shopping website Gilt said today that they will be increasing their investment in Irish operations and intend on creating a new Platform Innovation Centre in Dublin. The company first established and Irish base in 2011 and currently employ more than 150 people in Dublin and Limerick.

The project is being  supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland CEO of Gilt Michelle Peluso explained: “Our Irish technology team has been instrumental in further developing Gilt’s core ecommerce platform, bringing a combination of engineering discipline, innovation and a passion for quality that is rare.

Ryanair’s three new services from Knock Airport to support 80 jobs

Budget airline Ryanair has announced another batch of new routes out of the west of Ireland on the back of the travel tax being scrapped.

The carrier will run three new services from Knock — to Eindhoven in Holland, Glasgow-Prestwick in Scotland, and Kaunas in Lithuania — from April. Ryanair has also committed to increase frequencies on its London route. Ryanair claimed it will support 80 jobs following its announcement at Knock Airport, part of its aim to carry an additional 1m people at Irish airports in a direct response to the Government lifting the €3 travel tax from April. Ryanair has already made announcements for eight new routes out of Shannon and plans other investments for Cork, Dublin, and Kerry in the coming weeks.

44.500 NEW JOB OPENINGS PREDICTED FOR ICT WORKERS IN IRELAND IN THE NEXT SIX YEARS

Continued demand for people with ICT skills across the Irish economy could generate 44,500 new job openings over the next six years, according to Forfás and the Expert Group on Future Skills Needs.  A new report Addressing Future Demand for High-Level ICT Skills forecasts the demand for high-level ICT skills up to 2018.

In 2012, there were 68,280 ICT professionals working within the ICT sector and across other sectors of the economy. The report forecasts that there will be increased demand of, on average, 5pc per annum for these high-level ICT skills up to 2018, increasing the employment of ICT professionals to 91,000.

ACORN TO CREATE 100 JOBS IN DUBLIN

Marketing agency Acorn is to create 100 new jobs in Dublin to assist its EMEA-based clients and service its offices in London, Sydney and Paris. The company, which currently employs 100 people, is recruiting IT, management, HR and finance roles for its Dublin office.

Acorn was acquired by Epsilon, an Alliance Data division in 2012, and has designated the Dublin team as the creative services delivery hub for all Epsilon markets outside North America.

Almost 220 jobs are to be created by entrepreneurial start-ups over the next 12 months. The posts will be available in 30 firms backed by Dublin Business Innovation Centre (Dublin BIC).

Dublin BIC was established in 1988 as part of a national and European organisation of business and innovation centres which identify, select and support entrepreneurial start-ups. Firms with the new jobs include Davra Networks, EmpowerTheUser, iCabbi, Learnosity, MMSOFT Design, OpenJaw Technologies, Point of Care, Stratus5 and SafeFood 360.

DecaWave creates 25 jobs in Dublin

25 new jobs are being announced at an Irish semiconductor chip company.

Dublin-based firm DecaWave plans to fill the engineering, product management and sales and marketing positions over the next 18 months. The new jobs come as the company launches a new semiconductor chip, which promises to make indoor location and communication more effective.

The technology has particular applications for high-value goods, for example in a warehouse, as it promises to make tracking and locating them much easier than existing technologies such as radio frequency identification or wi-fi.

UTV to create 100 jobs with new Irish TV channel

UTV plans to establish a new TV channel in the Republic of Ireland with offices in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Waterford and Limerick, creating 100 jobs by 2015.

It submitted an application to the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) today. UTV Media already employs over 300 people in the Republic.
