HostSure Northern Ireland creates 14 jobs in Derry

An increase in business activity has spurred cloud infrastructure services provider HostSure Northern Ireland to create 14 jobs in Derry.  Invest Northern Ireland's Jobs Fund is providing stg£98,000 in support for the expansion, which includes new jobs for a programmers, a software tester, and help desk operators.

“We identified a contract opportunity involving 24/7 helpdesk support and software development but needed to get a team in place to capitalise on this new business," said Robbie O'Brien, director of HostSure Northern Ireland.

Fleetmatics creates 24 jobs at new Dublin HQ

Provider of fleet management solutions for SMEs Fleetmatics has created 24 jobs at its global headquarters in Tallaght, Co Dublin, which was officially opened by Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD last January.

The new jobs are in research and development, product management, marketing and finance, bringing the total number employed at the Dublin hub to 72. Fleetmatics plans to employ a further two high-end software developers and three database developers in the short term in Dublin and has also recently taken on 20 people in London.

Britvic’s Irish wholesale division adds 20 jobs

Britvic Licensed Wholesale is adding 20 jobs to its Dublin operation after it signed new contracts to distribute Walkers Snacks and Findlater Wines in Ireland. The company, which distributes goods to more than 7,000 bars, hotels and restaurants, will also rebrand to Counterpoint.

The new jobs, which will be located at Counterpoint’s head office in Kilcarbery Business Park, are related to customer care and financial accounts functions that were previously undertaken in the UK.

Lidl announce 40 permanent jobs across two new stores

Supermarket chain Lidl have announced the creation of 40 new jobs in two new stores.

The discount retailer will hire 40 people for permanent positions in the two shops in Dublin. A new Ballycullen store opened last Thursday and the company said this will be followed by a new Terenure shop on Thursday, December 12.

These latest openings bring the total number of Lidl stores in Ireland to 138. Lidl said it had received "well over 200 applications for the 40 permanent roles".

Anna Schu opens second salon in Ireland, creating 10 jobs

Beauty brand Anna Schu is creating 10 jobs at its second salon to open in Ireland, in Stillorgan Shopping Centre, Co Dublin.  Its first outlet opened in Bray, Co Wicklow in August 2010 and founder Anna Schulmeistrat said demand for its services so far had been “exceptional”.

AON to create 30 jobs in innovation centre

Insurance group Aon has announced that it is creating 30 high skilled jobs at its Centre for Innovation and Analytics in Dublin. The centre provides advanced insurance research, analytics and business intelligence for the wider group and to its clients. The centre - which was opened in 2008 - employs 100 people already.

The IDA's chief executive Barry O’Leary said "The calibre of our Dublin based team, our analytical tools and the nature of the insights that we share with clients across the globe is a real differentiator for Aon,"

1000 new jobs as University of Limerick expands

About 1,000 jobs are expected to be created in Limerick over the next four years in a major expansion of the University of Limerick, part funded by the European Investment Bank.

An estimated 700 of the jobs will be in construction and nearly 300 will be created on the existing campus as well as at a new campus in Limerick city centre.

The European Investment Bank is providing over €100m to UL for its capital development plan, which will see 12 new buildings on the north and south campus, a new clinical education research building and a new city centre campus.

Fujitsu creates 192 jobs in Northern Ireland

Fujitsu has announced it has created 192 new jobs in Derry, Northern Ireland.

The jobs - 177 full-time positions and 15 apprenticeships - will include technical and software orientated roles, as well as business support roles in finance, procurement, HR and administration. Fujitsu is supporting the job creation with £12 million over the next three years, while Invest Northern Ireland will provide over £990,000 of funding.

DePuy to create 38 new jobs in Co Cork

Medical devices firm DePuy is to create 38 new jobs as part of an expansion of its facility in Ringaskiddy, Co Cork.

The company, which is a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, said it had already begun hiring for the positions and is primarily looking for candidates at masters and PhD level. It is one of a number of companies in Ireland that is owned by Johnson & Johnson, which employs around 1,900 people here.

Data flow specialist Axway is to create 15 software engineering jobs in Dublin, where it is expanding its R&D Centre of Excellence.  The Centre of Excellence will be Axway’s global hub for its API Gateway research and development.

APIs (application interface programming) are the DNA of the next generational shift in technology; cloud, mobile, social and the internet of things will all be built using APIs.
