ARGOS TO CREATE 175 PART TIME SEASONAL JOBS

Argos is to create a further 175 part-time jobs in Ireland to cover increased demand over the forthcoming festive season.

The jobs will cover all of the catalogue and online retailer’s 40 Irish stores, with new team members receiving staff discounts of 10%. All positions will be just for the Christmas retail season. We are looking for people who are customer focused, passionate and enthusiastic to join our teams,” said Andy McClelland, Argos’s national operations manager.

250 NEW JOBS FOR SOUTH EAST

Customer contact centre Eishtec has announced the creation of 250 new jobs by the middle of 2014, adding to its current workforce of 700 people.

Eishtec was founded by Colm Tracey, Brian Barry and Heather Reynolds after the closure in Waterford of Talk Talk. The company started trading in May 2011 with nine employees.

Today’s announcement comes on the back of the company winning a new contract to provide smart phone technical support in the UK for T-Mobile. Recruitment has already started for the jobs, which will be located at Eishtec’s Waterford and Wexford sites.

Science company to create 24 jobs

AN IRISH SPORTS science company has announced that it is to create 24 new jobs after it successfully raised €475,000 in a combination of private investment and matched funding from the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through Enterprise Ireland’s iHPSU fund.

The jobs will be created over the next three years, as Kitman Labs expands their operations into the UK market.

KPMG to create 330 new jobs

Accountancy and consultancy firm KPMG is to create 330 new jobs. The firm is looking to fill roles in the areas of audit, tax and advisory and plans to make the appointments through 2014.

The company said it was looking to fill a range of 60 senior and 270 graduate trainee positions in Dublin, Belfast, Cork and Galway. The 60 senior positions will be at managerial and senior managerial level across the firm.

Adroll to create 100 jobs at new European HQ in Dublin

AdRoll has announced that it is setting up its European headquarters in Dublin, creating 100 jobs in its first 12 months and what it described as "ambitious plans for further staff growth".

The company, which provides a retargeting platform for advertisers, said its move to Europe is driven by strong annual growth of over 600pc in this market in 2013.

The Dublin operation will be responsible for sales, account management, marketing, HR, and finance across a number of languages and countries. The company opened its Irish office in August and has so far taken on 15 people.

45 new software engineering jobs will be created in Dublin over the next two years

US based online shopping website Gilt said today that they will be increasing their investment in Irish operations and intend on creating a new Platform Innovation Centre in Dublin. The company first established and Irish base in 2011 and currently employ more than 150 people in Dublin and Limerick.

The project is being  supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through IDA Ireland CEO of Gilt Michelle Peluso explained: “Our Irish technology team has been instrumental in further developing Gilt’s core ecommerce platform, bringing a combination of engineering discipline, innovation and a passion for quality that is rare.

Ryanair’s three new services from Knock Airport to support 80 jobs

Budget airline Ryanair has announced another batch of new routes out of the west of Ireland on the back of the travel tax being scrapped.

The carrier will run three new services from Knock — to Eindhoven in Holland, Glasgow-Prestwick in Scotland, and Kaunas in Lithuania — from April. Ryanair has also committed to increase frequencies on its London route. Ryanair claimed it will support 80 jobs following its announcement at Knock Airport, part of its aim to carry an additional 1m people at Irish airports in a direct response to the Government lifting the €3 travel tax from April. Ryanair has already made announcements for eight new routes out of Shannon and plans other investments for Cork, Dublin, and Kerry in the coming weeks.

44.500 NEW JOB OPENINGS PREDICTED FOR ICT WORKERS IN IRELAND IN THE NEXT SIX YEARS

Continued demand for people with ICT skills across the Irish economy could generate 44,500 new job openings over the next six years, according to Forfás and the Expert Group on Future Skills Needs.  A new report Addressing Future Demand for High-Level ICT Skills forecasts the demand for high-level ICT skills up to 2018.

In 2012, there were 68,280 ICT professionals working within the ICT sector and across other sectors of the economy. The report forecasts that there will be increased demand of, on average, 5pc per annum for these high-level ICT skills up to 2018, increasing the employment of ICT professionals to 91,000.

TECH FIRM TO CREATE 15 JOBS IN WEST DUBLIN

Continent 8 Technologies is to create 15 jobs at its new Dublin EMEA service operations centre, which was opened by Taoiseach Enda Kenny this morning.

Continent 8 Technologies delivers internet technologies, products and services providing companies with secure and reliable facilities from which to host their online operations.
