Monaghan Mushrooms has announced the creation of 20 jobs for graduates

The company, which is Europe's biggest producer of mushrooms, operates in six countries and has a workforce of over 3,500, including 900 in Ireland.  

It first launched its one year graduate programme in 2011.It it has since developed it to become a two year programme which offers career progression to graduate employees across a range of sectors.

These include agricultural science, agribusiness management, distribution, data analysis, food, engineering, marketing and research and development.

A multinational fire protection and security company is to establish a business services centre in Cork which is expected to create 500 over the next three years .

Tyco, the largest company of its kind in the world, closed its manufacturing facilities in the Republic five years ago with the loss of 500 jobs, but has committed to return with a new division of the business.

The new centre in Cork city is being designed to allow the company to improve efficiencies in some support functions including sourcing and procurement, customer service, research and development, information technology and finance.

BioMarin purchased the former Pfizer plant in Shanbally in Ringaskiddy in 2011 and announced that it planned to create some 100 jobs. Some 50 of these positions have already been filled, with recruitment continuing for the remaining 50 positions.

Today, BioMarin announced that it is to create a further 40 jobs to facilite the production of bulk pharmaceutical for its new drug Vimizin which will be used in the treatment of patients with a rare lysosomal storage disorder known as Morquio A Syndrome.

20 new Centra stores create 400 new positions jobs

Convenience brand Centra is to add 20 new stores to its network this year, which will create around 400 new jobs. It made the announcement as it reported a 3.5pc increase in retail sales in 2013, to reach €1.48bn, underpinned by sales of its own-brand range, which climbed by 17pc.

There are now 465 Centra stores across Ireland employing a total of almost 10,000 people.

Cloud player ServiceSource aiming to hire 100 people in Dublin

Cloud player ServiceSource, a global leader in technology-based service revenue performance for the hi-tech, medical and life-sciences industries, says it plans to hire 100 people for its Dublin operation in the coming year.

The company originally announced plans to create 70 jobs in Dublin in 2010 but now it has 350 people in Dublin – 12pc of the company’s global workforce of 3,000 people – and it is now looking for a further 100 employees.

“This year we estimate we will hire about 100 people, to serve existing and new clients,” said Olivier Sabella, vice-president of Inside Sales EMEA at ServiceSource, ahead of the upcoming Career Zoo event in Dublin on 15 February.

DOZENS OF NEW jobs have been announced this morning in Roscommon as a pharmaceutical giant looks to expand its operations in Ireland.

Alexion Pharma Ireland, a subsidiary of Alexion Pharmaceuticals, is due to purchase a vialling facility in Athlone, creating 40 new jobs.

Cork call centre to hire 50 staff

Zevas Communications, based at Monahan Rd, Cork, a leading provider of outsourced customer contact services, made the announcement yesterday.

Chief executive Con Lehane, who started the business in October 2001, said the company was looking for English-speaking sales and support staff, and although a third-level qualification would be an advantage, it wasn’t compulsory.

The company, which has offices in the US and Spain, is also preparing to open a new office in Hamburg. Its 24/7 operation currently services gas and electrical utilities, pharmaceutical companies and telecoms companies in nine languages across eight time zones.

CMV to create 30 jobs in Co Offaly

Irish clean tech firm CMV is to create 30 jobs in Co Offaly, after signing a deal with US-based H2envirO to roll out its Elimbac product in North America and other international markets.

CMV chief executive Geoff Carragher said all products destined for the US will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Tullamore, with more than 30 new jobs being created at the plant over the next three years.

Marketing software company is to create 17 new jobs in Dublin

Marketing software company Hubspot is to create 17 new jobs in its ‘DubSpot’ offices in Dublin, for people in sales, support, services, and engineering. HubSpot Ireland’s inbound marketing specialist Maria Sweeney said the company hopes to have more than 100 people working in its European headquarters in the coming years.

The company indicated it sees a bright future in its Dublin office, which, aside from being the company’s only office outside of the US, is the company’s EMEA headquarters.
