Brandtone investing €2m in R&D and creating 29 jobs

Dublin-based mobile marketing company Brandtone is investing over €2m in a research and development (R&D) programme which will mean the creation of 29 jobs. Supported by Enterprise Ireland, the investment is intended to drive Brandtone’s growth in emerging markets and will bring its global workforce to 79 by the end of 2014.

The new investment programme involves a team of technologists and marketeers working collaboratively to develop Brandtone’s next generation of products and services.

These will capitalise on the increasing availability of smartphones in developing and emerging markets, and will draw on the latest advances in behavioural science to provide a more personalised and engaging experience for consumers.

New Jobs Boost For Swords

There was some excellent news on the jobs front this week, with the announcement that The Wright Bar Group is to invest in developing two  new venues in Swords. This new investment is expected to create 100 new jobs.

The Wright Group, which has a chain of nine bars and restaurants and one nightclub, already employs over 350 people,. including the Wright Venue in Airside Retail Park in Swords, as well as businesses in Swords and Malahide. The company will invest €800,000 in developing two new businesses.

BT go for growth as new Belfast contact centre will create 165 jobs

Over 160 new full-time contact centre jobs have been created by BT in Belfast to work on campaigns and operations across the UK.

The 165 staff, who will be employed on fixed-term contracts, will be paid around £18,000 at the company's second 'BT Flex customer contact centre'. They join 100 existing staff who are already working at the company's existing Flex centre at its headquarters in the BT Tower.

BT said the recruits will work "across any part of BT that requires additional resource for short-term campaigns". A spokeswoman said they will be on fixed-term contracts but could later be made permanent.

Dublin cloud software company to create 20 jobs after raising €1.5m

Dublin-based software company GeoPal Solutions is to create 20 new jobs by the end of 2014 after raising €1.5m in seed funding.  The investment came from the Enterprise Ireland High Potential Start Up (HPSU) fund, and private investors, to support the international expansion of the business to the US, UK, South Africa, and Asia.

The company has developed a cloud service and mobile application for mobile workforce management that improves productivity and reduces administration costs for businesses that need to manage a field-based mobile workforce.

Sage Pay to create 15 new jobs in Dublin

Payment solutions provider Sage Pay is to create 15 new jobs at its Irish headquarters in Dublin over the next year in the areas of sales, customer services, marketing, software development and IT services.

Currently employing 50 people in Ireland, Sage Pay’s clients include AIB, Clerys, Topaz and McCabe’s Pharmacy. “The new roles are part of the on-going investment in our Irish operations to support our growing local business and the broader opportunities within Sage Pay Europe," said Sean Wilson, managing director of Sage Pay Ireland.

Digital cinema player AAM to create 20 jobs in Cork

Arts Alliance Media (AAM), one of the world’s major providers of digital cinema players, is to create 20 new jobs in Cork with the establishment of a Software Development Operation.

London-headquartered AAM develops software for cinemas to import content, encode films and manage advertising. As well as this, AAM provides other services, including installation, maintenance and support for cinemas who wish to convert from 35mm to digital.

Up to 150 jobs to be created at health services company

Mayo-based Northgate Public Services has announced its plans to double its workforce in Ireland with the creation of 150 jobs. The firm plans to make the positions available over the next three years at a new facility in Co Mayo. Recruitment is expected to begin early next year.

It is understood that Northgate will set up in an existing premises in the Castlebar area for the new unit. The private company operates a newborn screening programme for the HSE in maternity hospitals and runs computer files management systems for several other hospitals.

The company will be looking for employees to fill a number of IT roles and support roles for existing services provided by the company.

Microsoft to create 380 construction jobs in Dublin data centre expansion

MICROSOFT is to create 380 construction-related jobs as it expands its data centre in Dublin. The company said the €170m expansion to its EuropeMiddle East and Africa mega datacentre will be completed in the Spring. Construction has already begun and will create 380 building related jobs.

The company said an additional 20 people will join the team of approximately 80 already based in the existing facility at Clondalkin. This is the second expansion to the Clondalkin facility, bringing the total investment to €594m.

HostSure Northern Ireland creates 14 jobs in Derry

An increase in business activity has spurred cloud infrastructure services provider HostSure Northern Ireland to create 14 jobs in Derry.  Invest Northern Ireland's Jobs Fund is providing stg£98,000 in support for the expansion, which includes new jobs for a programmers, a software tester, and help desk operators.

“We identified a contract opportunity involving 24/7 helpdesk support and software development but needed to get a team in place to capitalise on this new business," said Robbie O'Brien, director of HostSure Northern Ireland.

Fleetmatics creates 24 jobs at new Dublin HQ

Provider of fleet management solutions for SMEs Fleetmatics has created 24 jobs at its global headquarters in Tallaght, Co Dublin, which was officially opened by Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD last January.

The new jobs are in research and development, product management, marketing and finance, bringing the total number employed at the Dublin hub to 72. Fleetmatics plans to employ a further two high-end software developers and three database developers in the short term in Dublin and has also recently taken on 20 people in London.
