Some of the fastest-growing companies on the leading edge of advances in IT, cybersecurity, life sciences and financial services are to create 132 jobs in Dublin and Galway, it emerged this morning.

The five companies creating the jobs are New Relic, SEKO MedTec Solutions, NeoMed, Inc, capSpire and Starting Dot.

A US-based multinational technology company is to expand its operations in Cork, promising to create 150 jobs in research and development there over the next two years.

Recruitment has already begun at VCE, a software company that established its international headquarters at Ballincollig four years ago.

HMV TO REOPEN ON DUBLIN'S GRAFTON STREET

Entertainment retailerHMVis to reopen on Dublin’sGraftonStreet barely a year after it was forced to close its flagship store on the same street.

OwnersHilco Capitalsaid yesterday the new branch would be located in the old A-Wear premises and would lead to the creation of 35 new jobs.

The store is expected to be up and running within three months.

WATERFORD COLLEGE AIMS TO CREATE HUNDREDS OF JOBS

A college in Waterford says it can help create more than 500 jobs in the next five years as part of a plan to draw down European funding to help start-up businesses.

The Telecommunications, Software and Systems Group (TSSG), which is part of the Waterford Institute of Technology, generated 600 new jobs in the past five years.

Minister for Education Ruairi Quinn officially opened NetLabs, a €5m research building at WIT's West Campus.

IRELAND'S THIRD ACTION PLAN FOR JOBS TARGETS UP TO 90.000 NEW JOBS

The next phase of the Irish Government’s Action Plan for Jobs is targeting up to 90,000 new jobs, including 40,000 manufacturing jobs, 10,000 new FDI jobs, and 30,500 indigenous export-focused jobs.

The initiative has been credited with creating 58,000 jobs last year.

The planbuilds on the more than 500 measures already implemented through Action Plan for Jobs 2012 and 2013, and contains 385 actions to be implemented by all 16 Government departments and 46 agencies. Building on the 2013 plan, three new Disruptive Reform topics have been targeted in the areas of Entrepreneurship, Winning Overseas and Manufacturing.

IT COMPANY CREATE 20 NEW JOBS IN DUBLIN HEADQUARTERS

Australian headquartered consumer network One Big Switch is to set up its European headquarters in Harcourt St in Dublin 2, which will create 20 roles by 2016.

DATAPAC WILL CREATE 15 JOBS

ICT firm Datapac said it will create 15 jobs after it was awarded a Government contract worth €11 million.

The two-year contract will lead to the creation of 10 jobs this year, with another five to follow over the following two years as Datapac adds to its sales, marketing and logistics roles.

Datapac, which offers technology solutions and services to businesses, said the contract to supply ICT consumables had the option of a one-year extension. The company said it would allow it to make further investments and grow its business. The contract was awarded through Office of Government Procurement, which is responsible for the public sector’s procurement arrangements for common goods and services.

250 NEW JOBS IN GALWAY CUSTOMER SERVICE

Galway received a 250-jobs bonanza today with the news that ZeniMax, the company behind fantasy game The Elder Scrolls, is to establish a major customer service centre in the city.

The company is to hire 70 French speakers, 30 German speakers, as well as 150 English speakers to support players of its popular online game.

ZeniMax created 180 jobs in Galway in 2011.

Several Indian firms spreading their wings in Ireland are likely to generate around 1,000 more jobs in the next three years.

A senior official with an Irish investment and development agency, IDA Ireland, told FC that several Indian firms are betting big on Ireland.
 
According to Barry Heavey, EVP — head of life sciences, told FC, “India’s share at present is still small. We are looking towards more investments from Indian firms, be it manufacturing, IT or pharma. So far the jobs generated by the Indian firms are around 2,500 to 3,000 and we are expecting an addition of 1,000 jobs by them over the next three years.”

NEW JOBS FOR DUBLIN AND MAYO BY VODAFONE

Telecoms company Vodafone has said it is to expand its business in Ireland, with the creation of more than 100 jobs. 

The new roles will be in a range of positions including: Technology, Customer service, HR, Finance, Sales and Marketing.

57 of the new positions will be permanent, with a further 51 contract roles (1 Year duration with potential for extension), while five are graduate opportunities.
